Western Australia
General status: While many of the catchments in the South West of WA have wetland mapping that details boundaries and typology for non-channel wetlands, the detail of values across the mapping datasets vary. Very few have wetland evaluations. Limited mapping also exists for catchments within the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of WA. Channel (waterway) mapping is largely coordinated by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and a significant coverage exists for hydrography lines and some limited water polygons. A dataset has also been established for Groundwater Dependent Ecosystems. One catchment within the Mid-west region of WA has had both geomorphic typology and the ANAE typology applied, together with evaluation.
The entire Swan Coastal Plain and portions of the Mid-West and South West regions are being remapped (2020-ongoing) using multiple spatial datasets, including Water Observations from Space and evaluated using multi criteria evaluation of available biological datasets.
