BackgroundThe Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) in cooperation with the Wetlands and Aquatic Ecosystem Sub Committee (WAESC) are currently furthering the development of the Australian Wetland Inventory (AWI). Most jurisdictions have previously compiled wetland maps and inventories, however there are varying levels of wetland characterisation (e.g. linework and attribution) and condition and trends. The proposed Australian Wetland Inventory aims to build on the work already completed by jurisdictions and consolidate this to meet the agreed objectives of a National Wetlands Inventory. Additional background info on the AWI scope is available in the WAESC National Wetland Inventory Discussion Paper Download here (1 MByte) About this siteThis site has been set up as a Share-Point to provide access to background documents and other resources related to the 'Development of an Australian Wetland Inventory' wetland matters of interest to WAESC.
